HOw could taxes be used as an incentive to help american companies stop outsourcing?

could we for example give better tax rates and breaks to companies that hire american workers here at home and penalize those who ship jobs overseas for example?

would this be a patriotic mindset??

HOw could taxes be used as an incentive to help american companies stop outsourcing?
My answer is based on the prospective presidential nominees case that they will increase taxes on job exporters while I've not heard one mention lowering taxes on those who bring jobs here. This to me is a flawed way of thinking as it doesn't seem to me to be a way to bring new companies here. Since I consider the problem to be two-fold thats what my answer reflects, simply giving tax breaks isn't the answer imo.

Instead of increasing taxes via tariffs to bring the price of imported goods up we should be focusing on ways to make taxes lower to entice companies to set up shop here.

Increasing taxes on imported goods does nothing more than increase the cost on former cheaply bought goods, giving more money to the government. If they are shipping these goods to other countries besides us they still have lower operating costs. These taxes do nothing more than shift the burden to the consumer here. It's a falsely represented way of forcing companies to hire here. Hint-the taxes that made them set up shop elsewhere are still active here...they aren't coming back so long as they are so high it's not fiscally viable.

Ever hear the saying you get more flies with honey than vinegar? Well same principle, if operating costs in the form of decreased taxes reached a point where overall overhead was lower for manufacturing here the companies would come here. They are in the business of making money so they are going to go where they are able to retain the most money possible.

This is an overly simplified explanation but rest assured that tariffs aren't the way to go as they really do nothing more than push companies further away from the US.
Reply:Develop more economic development areas. Consider rebates for training and retaining employees here. Give tax breaks for companies that offer health insurance at reasonable rates for their employees- this would help with the cost to the business. Offer more in the line of depreciation and machinery and equipment purchases- You would need people to operate the equipment. Give business some reason to want to hire at home as opposed to only looking at cheaper foreign labor.

This would not penalize businesses for making choices to move out of the US, but rewarding them for making a choice to stay. If we only penalize companies for going elsewhere, that will not only make them look for other reasons to leave, but if the penalties are a minimal amount compared to the savings they would get on cheaper labor (like some of the recent ones have been) it defeats the purpose.
Reply:reduce corporate taxes like just about every other industrialized country has including Canada and Germany and Ireland- you tax and they leave- commonsense. Treat business like a partner- reduce excessive regulation schemes and helo foster growth.

And yes unions need to protect workers and seek FAIR wages but MANY are extortion outfits- and I've been in a few.

Require all americans to take and pass at least a full year of economics in high school taught by teachers with business or economics degrees
Reply:you are way too late for that

America barely produces anything anymore - we are a consumer nation.

Nothing is going to stop business from outsourcing because its about money and they will always go where its cheaper to produce their goods and make more money.

Unless you stop business from running the government you wont get jobs back ever.

The death of the middle class is by DESIGN.
Reply:1. Set progressive global tax rates on the wealthy, say 70% on income, capital gains, and estate for anyone making over $1,000,000.00 a year. 2. Set up strong global labor unions and global government to reign in corrupt global corporations and set global labor standards and wages so no one has to work 14 hour shifts for pennies per hour.
Reply:Unions push jobs overseas not companies. Get rid of the Unions.
Reply:Charge a lot of tax for imported products and offer tax cuts for each american employee.

QED.
Reply:reduce them to be like Ireland. Then watch a huge explosion of jobs.
