Will someone PLEASE help me with this geometry problem?

This is it:

Explain how to find the equation of a line perpendicular to a given line through a point not on the given line.

You don't know any points or the slope. %26amp; you can't make one up.

Will someone PLEASE help me with this geometry problem?
1. The slope of the line you are trying to find will be the negative inverse of the line it is perpendicular to.

2. Then use the points you are given (even though they are not on the line) and the point slope form of a line to write the equation of the line. The point slope form is y - y0 = m(x - x0) where (x0, y0) is a point on the line.

Example:

A line perpendicular to y = 2x-4 that goes through (3,1).

The lines slope will be -1/2 (the negative inverse of 2)

The equation will be y - 1 = -1/2(x - 3)

This is based on using the, slope, the point (3,1) and the point-slope form of the equation.

Hope this helps!
Reply:You have the equation of one line

y = mx + b

Any line that is perpendicular to it will have slope = -1/m.

Suppose you want the perpendicular to pass through a point (x₁,y₁). Then the equation for the perpendicular is

y-y₁ = (-1/m)(x-x₁)

which can be rearranged to

y = (-1/m)x + (x₁/m + y₁)
Reply:Is bascially asking you to write a formula on how to solve this question without using solid data.

That means you have to use variables only.

Lets say, I want to find the answer to C but you do not have any other numbers to work with. Explain how you can solve C.

Well...you can say....

A + B = C

The formula you derived has to be correct at all times.

Another example is Quadratic Equation ( Don't know if you have learned that already ). But it is a formula created out of no data.

In your case, you know that for any slope to exist, you need 2 points in space.

[ x1, y1 ] [ x2, y2 ].....

so to find the midpoint is [ x2 - x1, y2 - y1 ] / 2

See how I am doing this?

I am getting solution out of nothing.
Reply:If you are given a line, solve for y to find its slope and then use the negative reciprocal of that slope for a perperdicular line. After use either y = mx+b or point slope formula to write the new equation.
Reply:1) Find slope using negative reciprocal of given line's slope

2) Use formula y-y0= m(x-x0) where m= slope, x0= given x-coord, y0= given y-coord
Reply:A perpendicular line is an intersecting line that makes a 90 degree angle(right angle) A plus sign is an example of perpendicular lines. So I would make a 90 degree angle with the other line given to you.

Help i have a Peugeot 206 it wont start its had 1diagnostic didn't show anything Peugeot say its needs deep
In two years of answering questions about Peugeot here, I have never ever heard of "Deep Diagnostic". Do They think you have "deep pockets?"

I suggest you stay away from Peugeot garages and phone some other garages to ask if they can diagnose Peugeot electrical problems. Ask for a print out of the error codes from your first diagnostic....If they even did it!

The 206's made at the Ryton Plant, before its final closure, are known for their problems with the ECU. Electronic Contol Unit. Are you from the UK? I can give internet references for this if you request it.

Maybe it's time for just a new ECU and have everything working again??

Good luck to you.

HELP! My son came home from work with COOKING OIL spills all over his khaki pants. What will remove that?

Dawn dish soap. don't put in dryer. line dry. if still there, repeat and try again. do not use anything else that may re-act with the grease

HELP! My son came home from work with COOKING OIL spills all over his khaki pants. What will remove that?
You may have some luck with dawn ultra and some very very hot water. I would put them in a stock pot and boil them for a bit, maybe with some lemon juice, then dump them into the washer on HOT with some Dawn. Not too much, though, or you'll have a soap mountain.

Don't boil soap in the pot, though...tends to keep the flavor.
Reply:I know this maybe crazy, but works fine everytime..

U can either wash the spot with petrol or kerosene. Let the spot be soaked and then u can wash it with your usual soap and stuff..

All the best.
Reply:first soak in dawn dish soap then spray shout on the areas affected
Reply:i've had great luck with GooGone for grease and oil stains! Works great! Don't machine wash afterward,. let it air dry to make sure the stain is gone first, repeat if you need to.
Reply:Fels Napatha Soap...works for a variety of things but, it is good for oil based stains. I would imagine that would mean oil itself.

Just wet the bar and rub it on the stain. Let it sit for a while and then launder as usual.

Do not dry in the dryer until you are sure the stain is gone...this will set the stain.
Reply:I think it somewhat depends on the fabric, not only the type of spill. for example my hubby had cooking oil all over a polo-type t-shirt (100% cotton). They were months old and everytime I would wash the shirt I'd forget to do the stain treatment and I finally one day remembered and removed all of them with SHOUT stain remover (in the US). I just poured a good amount on the shirt, let it soak for a few minutes, threw it in the washing machine and also put some Shout in the bleach cassette of the washer. And it was all out.

That's why I'm thinking might not work on capris, because the shirt fabric was absorbant and soaked in all that stain remover. but you can try.

it was a burgundy red shirt, so don't worry about bleach stains. Shout is good for colors.

You always need to have a backup just in case your aspirations to become a professional sport player does not work out. If you don't get that offer and you have no skills or majors you will have no where to go to look for a job.

What are some inexpensive ways to help the environment?

Use a bike for transportation. Recycle. Dont waste electricity.

What are some inexpensive ways to help the environment?
In public restrooms, don't use paper towels or air blowers, shake your hands dry. This saves alot of energy and trees. Turn off lights in your house when your not using them, and unplug devices. Even if they are switched off, they plug is still using power. Always recycle, bike or walk, dont leave trash around, ect.
Reply:Use your own bags when shopping at the store. You won't believe how much garbage you're saving a year just by not using plastic ones and throwing them away.

Always recycle things like paper and cans.

Hang your clothes up for drying instead of using a drying machine.
Reply:About everything you do to help the enviornment is cheaper then hurting it. For instance chlorine- used in many cleaning solutions, is known to cause cancer, how much do you think that will cost in the long run. Use baking soda instead it actually cleans better in most cases. Stop using paper towels, instead get some old bath towels, cut them up and use those. Don't run your washing machine for just a few shirts, fill it up. Stop using the dishwasher, cleaning dishes by hand is faster and doesn't' use nearly as much resources. Basically, if you keep Earth and it's wellbeing (as well as yours) in mind at all times, eventually not hurting it will become like second nature to you.

HOw could taxes be used as an incentive to help american companies stop outsourcing?

could we for example give better tax rates and breaks to companies that hire american workers here at home and penalize those who ship jobs overseas for example?

would this be a patriotic mindset??

HOw could taxes be used as an incentive to help american companies stop outsourcing?
My answer is based on the prospective presidential nominees case that they will increase taxes on job exporters while I've not heard one mention lowering taxes on those who bring jobs here. This to me is a flawed way of thinking as it doesn't seem to me to be a way to bring new companies here. Since I consider the problem to be two-fold thats what my answer reflects, simply giving tax breaks isn't the answer imo.

Instead of increasing taxes via tariffs to bring the price of imported goods up we should be focusing on ways to make taxes lower to entice companies to set up shop here.

Increasing taxes on imported goods does nothing more than increase the cost on former cheaply bought goods, giving more money to the government. If they are shipping these goods to other countries besides us they still have lower operating costs. These taxes do nothing more than shift the burden to the consumer here. It's a falsely represented way of forcing companies to hire here. Hint-the taxes that made them set up shop elsewhere are still active here...they aren't coming back so long as they are so high it's not fiscally viable.

Ever hear the saying you get more flies with honey than vinegar? Well same principle, if operating costs in the form of decreased taxes reached a point where overall overhead was lower for manufacturing here the companies would come here. They are in the business of making money so they are going to go where they are able to retain the most money possible.

This is an overly simplified explanation but rest assured that tariffs aren't the way to go as they really do nothing more than push companies further away from the US.
Reply:Develop more economic development areas. Consider rebates for training and retaining employees here. Give tax breaks for companies that offer health insurance at reasonable rates for their employees- this would help with the cost to the business. Offer more in the line of depreciation and machinery and equipment purchases- You would need people to operate the equipment. Give business some reason to want to hire at home as opposed to only looking at cheaper foreign labor.

This would not penalize businesses for making choices to move out of the US, but rewarding them for making a choice to stay. If we only penalize companies for going elsewhere, that will not only make them look for other reasons to leave, but if the penalties are a minimal amount compared to the savings they would get on cheaper labor (like some of the recent ones have been) it defeats the purpose.
Reply:reduce corporate taxes like just about every other industrialized country has including Canada and Germany and Ireland- you tax and they leave- commonsense. Treat business like a partner- reduce excessive regulation schemes and helo foster growth.

And yes unions need to protect workers and seek FAIR wages but MANY are extortion outfits- and I've been in a few.

Require all americans to take and pass at least a full year of economics in high school taught by teachers with business or economics degrees
Reply:you are way too late for that

America barely produces anything anymore - we are a consumer nation.

Nothing is going to stop business from outsourcing because its about money and they will always go where its cheaper to produce their goods and make more money.

Unless you stop business from running the government you wont get jobs back ever.

Need a steady job, a place to live, ability to manage your social and economic life, proof of all that, probably your parents permission and a state that has emancipation; not all do, and not all have fulll rights for emancipated minors.

If you're asking for help - you are clearly not financially capable of taking care of yourself - let alone taking care of your twins.

1. how old are you

2. how are you going to support yourself (and your children)

So far, what I'm getting from you is that you are a teenage mother of twins that wants to be emancipated and have the state pick up the tab for your support.

I doubt under those circumstances you will get emancipation unless there is some serious family abuse going on.

I am having intense rectal pain during menses. please help me telling the causes?

I feel really really bad pain in my rectal area and it radiates till anus during menstrual period. It has been there since 8 years. I dont know what to do with this because 5 years back I fainted because of that intense pain. It is not continuous. It occurs 5-8 times in a day, more during 1st 3days and diminishes on 4th day of menses. I am scared if it is related to some rectal or colonic pathology?

I am having intense rectal pain during menses. please help me telling the causes?
Hi there,

This sounds like classic endometriosis. Endometriosis is when your endometrium tissue (the tissue that builds up on the inner lining of your uterus and sheds during your period) grows outside your uterus. One out of every four women get it. And it can grow in intestines, colon, over your ovary, etc. Symptoms include intense pain/cramping, since that tissue cramps just like your period cramps.

Consider seeing your OBGYN. They can offer some releif, either with pain meds, or the pill, or surgery.

You don't have to suffer!

Since you can correlate it directly to your period, it's unlikely that it's colonic pathology. I would rule out endometriosis first.

Go bash some customer and slam him to the ground a couple times, that will show the police department how mentally unstable you are, oh and you had better loose some weight soon, like about 100 pounds. You are clinically considered to be morbidly obese if those numbers are correct.
Reply:Yes, they will look at your background, and no, they wont hire you after you have a felony assaulting an officer conviction.

Apply to a security company or something, one of them may possibly hire you if the felony was long enough ago, then you could at least be a rent-a-cop.
Reply:Stay inside your house.
Reply:This is a joke, right? You are a criminal. Unless you get a pardon, you have no hope. Truthfully, if you have been convicted of a crime against the Police, who is going to trust that you will back them up in a tough sitation and not turn on them.

Reply:Yes kid we know, you've posted this same thing or close to it many many times in the past. It sounds like a personal problem to me.

I just recently started preaching and am trying to make cd's. Is there any software that I can purchase to do this from my laptop cause I'm always on the road?

I need help with my computer? Trying to find software to record and edit sermons?
Audacity. It is free and should work for you.
Reply:Audacity is very good recording/editing software - and free. I doubt that you will find better for doing what you want to do.

I checked the spec of Wavepad and, while there are a few extra functions, I can confirm that Audacity has all of the functions (and more) that you will need and is very easy to use both as a recorder and an editor.

Depending on your version of Windows, burning the CDs will not be a problem once you have .wma or .mp3 files created, though you could invest in Nero or Roxio if you wanted more control.
Reply:Audacity http://audacity.sf.net is a free and very powerfull audio recording and editing program.

All you need a microphone and a program that can create audio CDs such as CD Burner XP (also free) http://cdburnerxp.se/

For instructions check out the sites or search the web for "(program name) TUTORIAL". Especially for Audacity there are many tutorials out there.
Reply:windows movie make is free if you have a PC and i know MACs have move edeting software.

you can down load WMM just search it on google
Reply:you could use the wav recorder already on your pc, but it would be very big file before compression. Alternatively you could use audacity (freeware) and then save as MP3.

Can anyone help me identify the rock i have found?

it was found in lower south west WA. it is green in colour, seems to be quite dense - i can not see the particles in it. It has a Glassy appearance but is more "layered" than melted glass would look. It is hard enough to scratch metal. I found three chunks roughly the size of a grapefruit bit bigger.

Can anyone help me identify the rock i have found?
Not really sure there are a couple it may be I am thinking Tourmaline. But since you have the samples in question refer here and tell us what it really is please.
Reply:well you need to try and scratch glass with it. its hardness is key in figuring out where it lies on the Mohs scale. whether or not it scratches metal doesnt matter.

The Cascade Mountains are in the area and more fitting the Western Cascades are heavily eroded b/c of the large amount of preciptation it recieves (60-100 inches yrly)

The Cascade range formed through a sseries of volcanic episodes beginning aprx 40 mya. The entire range is predominatly made up of volcanic or igneous rock (see link for characteristics)

Without seeing your specimen its impossible to know but start out with identifying general characterisitcs: physical properties, see if you can identify specific minerals in the rock, how large are the grains? Texture? You say it has a cleveage (layered structure), notice its color and match that to minerals (google it if you dont have a textbook).

I would surmise being the region that its in and what Im familiar with....

the glass-like appearance could be biotite mica or muscovitemica (it has a good cleveage)

The green color--who knows without seeing it BUT olivine and pyroxene both are green (google those to see differences)

Im sure there is some feldpsar in there somewhere

All these are typical minerals related to igneous rocks.

You really need a microscope to determine grain size and mineral composition

Try going to your local college or university, Im sure those geology professors would be more than excited to help you!

Its certianly impossible to tell from here!!
Reply:It could be Jade or obsidian, because they both have a glassy appearance and could have layers in them.
Reply:probably a furnace clinker of glass from burning coke or coal
Reply:could it be a copper thing?

I need help with decorations for a nightclub themed party!?

The party is a surprise going away party for my best friend and I am in charge of decorations. The party is for 15-17 year olds and my friend already has a good playlist of club/dance music. We want it to be like a mini club with strobe lights and things like that. We're also hoping to have it outside.

If you could find some products that are in a medium budget range for a club tell me. Also what kind of food we should serve. We're not serving dinner so easy snacks to have around. Thanks

I need help with decorations for a nightclub themed party!?
strobe lights, black lights, mirrored ball, streamers,

Regarding the snacks..........

Crackers with cheese. Vegetable plate with dip.

Punch bowl with fancy plastic cups.

Little vienna sausages with colorful toothpicks.

Olives.........

Fruit, such as watermelon, cantelope, honeydew, use a fruit scoop, makes little round balls of fruit. Colorful!
Reply:If you are hoping to have it outside, get a giant strand of rope lights to hang about the patio, and put small lampshaded candles on the tables, like the ones in 1940s era classy nightclubs. And if the party is nightclub themed, a great joke would be to have a velvet rope up in front of the party site, and a well-dressed bouncer who "chooses" your guests for entrance! You can even have a fake paparrazi take their pictures as they arrive - on the red carpet, of course!

The disco ball or strobe is a must, and for snacks, mixed nuts on the tables would be good, as well as finger sandwiches, cheese and crackers, and maybe some canapes, such as bruschetta. Chips and dips are also good. Put nuts and popcorn on each table.

Have fun -- I hope your party is a great success. Your best friend is very, very lucky to have you do this.
Reply:Mirror ball, strobe lights, black lights, disco lights that change co lour to the music, smoke machine, bubble making machine.

Maybe your friends could help out and bring along their own stuff like; lava lamps, fairy lights, fiber optic lamps.

You could have a big bowl of your friends favorite sweets. Lots of finger food and snacks like crisps and dip, peanuts, sandwich's, mini sausage rolls etc..

Be sure to be ready to kill Kamil (level 154) He casts ice barrage which does up to 32 damage and is fought in a zone where all of your stats are drained to 1 (e.g. 1/72) Be sure to bring supre restore potions.

Also be sure to kill the following 3: Dessous(level in the 150s...)

Fareed(level in the 150s again)

and Damis( first form level 103, second form level 174)

Dessous mages and melees you and hits fast, often, and high. Make sure you've done heroes because getting the ice gloves would be a great advantage to you if you have them, because without them, you will not be able to use a weapon against Fareed. Be sure to have high defense against Damis. Claws of Guthix also helps.
Reply:I use Runehq.com the most but, if I cannot find what I am looking for on there I go to tip.it

I have a 7 year old labrador who has arthritis does anyone know of any good remedies to help ease his pain?

i have a 7 year old male golden labrador who suffers from arthritis in his back legs i would be great to know if anyone knows of any remedy at all that works for them to help ease my dogs pain thanks.

I have a 7 year old labrador who has arthritis does anyone know of any good remedies to help ease his pain?
glucosime (spelling?) for dogs joints.

Check some dry dog foods. Some will also have it the mix...
Reply:ask your vet first but i know people who give their dogs asprine, i believe half a pill
Reply:definately the vet will set the lab up with either tablets or injections...but i would say tablets (pain relief) at such a young age...prob cost about $100(au) per 3 months
Reply:best arthritis med is: Deramax. Have to get it from your vet but it's a once a day chewable tablet (liver flavored) - dogs love it and it works wonders!!!! worked for a vet and have seen what it can do as well as i put by 8 yr old Dane on it and it was like she went thru her second puppyhood!! made SUCH a difference the last year+ of her life!!
Reply:what does your vet say, from the time mine are on adult food i always added cod liver oil to their food, until my 17 yr old becsion passed away she had a good quality of life, she also liked a swim in warm water, she had a # pelvis at 15 and it healed with cage rest, the house is very quiet without her
Reply:get some glucosamine chondroitin. you can get it at walmart in the pharmacy section (its usually by the vitamins) but ask you vet for a correct dosage. it should help him dramatically
Reply:I have to give my dog a product called GCM Plus. It's a hip and joint formula that comes in chewable tablets. The bad news is I can only get it from my vets office and for 120 tablets I've been paying about $45.00 a bottle. They seem to help allot since we started giving her these chewable tablets, so as long as they help her, I really don't mind spending $45.00. We have been breaking the tablets in half as recommended by the vet so that helps with the cost.
Reply:My Samoyed has arthritis and he weighs about 84lbs. and I give him two aspirins a day
Reply:My GSD had bad arthritis in her last years - she was given Glucosamine tablets daily, and was also on Metacam pain relief each day during her last six months. Your vet can help you out - arthritis relief has come on a long way in the last few years - but don't expect it to be cheap. Is he insured? Most pet insurance policies will cover arthritis treatment, and getting the pain eased will give him a whole new lease of life.
Reply:be careful with asprin ONLY B/C after a period of time it takes a toll on the kidneys and liver. rhimadyl (sp?) is safer if the pain meds have to be given all the time. its an anti-inflamatory. (they do offer 'dog asprin' at like petsmart i believe)dont just give any meds without speaking to your vets first...dosage and such varies as well as pain meds its self. ibuprfen for example is usually not suggested, however some vets will reccomend it depending on the problem.

glucosamine chondroiton is an excellent cart. builder along with calcium but again, your vets need to be the dosage person. just give them a call and ask the vets to call you back. there shouldnt be a reaason for you to actually go in and see him given that your dog is healthy and caught up on everything. try senior foods as well and senior vitamins. they have nutrients in the food and vitamins that your dog needs to stay healthy. he may even require a mixture of puppy and senior (protien and vitamin mixture) but again, with that tak to your vets b/c you dont want your dog gaining weight from the puppy food-too much weight on his joints will make him feel worse-

a diet MAY be needed to if he is over weight...ive heard fish oil and flaxseed oil helps too altho i dont at all know the dosage for that. check out www.veterinarypartner.com and www.pethealth.com or petrx.com they should be able to help you out as well.

your dog is getting older so keep in mind he will never be back to his young self. you cant fight it-all you can do is help it. senior foods/supplements are the way to start going for sure if you havent already.

good luck and i hope you are able to find him relief!
Reply:I always start my dogs on Glucosamine with Chondroitin when they are 7 years as a preventative for arthritis. I have an 11 year old and a 10 year old who haven't a sign of arthritis..

My GP always said that Glucosamine was the biggest breakthrough for humans with arthritis and it certainly does help my dogs too.

Cod Liver Oil will also help to keep his joints supple.

Many dog foods now contain Glucosamine so it might be worth having a look at the ingredients to see if your dog's food contains it.

Is there a Lakers fan out there who is willing to admit the Lakers got help?

The lakers obviously got a lot of help in this game, but i am just wondering if any lakers fans have the balls to admit it?

Is there a Lakers fan out there who is willing to admit the Lakers got help?
is there a jazz fan that is willing to admit that the refs helped the jazz in game 4
Reply:I hate both teams but this game was blullshit lol
Reply:Yes, I am a Lakers fan and it's obvious they got help, but it's been the same story for all home teams during the playoffs. Home teams are 19-1 in the second round, and the refs have been a huge part of that.
Reply:durrr..this is a team effort not the kobe show, i'm just surprised YOU had the balls to ask this
Reply:Well every team get help at home so stop complaining
Reply:yea the crowd was awesome
Reply:WAHH WAHH WAHH!!!!

LEBRON JAMES SUCKS!!!

how about you GROW some balls and move on!
Reply:why would a Laker fan admit that? They are a big of pusssies as the refs that blew that game
Reply:STFU this is coming from a JAZZ fan? Whose team's home court is the most corrupt and dirty among all the areans in the NBA? If it wasn't for the refs the Lakers would've swept the Jazz already.

Got any more beers to throw at players? Hick?

By the way we people over here in Los Angeles got balls that are bigger than your entire garbage state.
Reply:yeah..,

but the officials at salt lake is more worst when they calling fouls...,
Reply:are there any jazz fans willing to admit your team flops more then they play..........lakers won move on.
Reply:They definitely got calls they didn't get in Salt Lake City, so yes they got some favorable calls. Whether or not that is the reason they won is debatable. You cannot deny that turnovers cost the Jazz this game. Deron Williams was pretty good, but twenty some turnovers on the road means you will probably lose. Also, the Jazz led the league in fouls in the regular season, so its their style of play, not a conspiracy for the Laker-Celtic final.

Now, do you not admit that the Jazz had an advantage over the Lakers at home?
Reply:That game was BULLSHIT!

THE REFS SUCK!
Reply:yeah i admit it they got helped.......hey who doesnt get help in home!!! it happens(Ex. GM 4 Jazz V. Lakers).....so deal with it B*****H......just like everybody else
Reply:Is there a Jazzs fan out there who is willing to admit the Utah can't beat the Lakers? or they are complaining like lil loser bitches because they lost?
Reply:YEAH WE GOT ALOT OF HELP....FROM LAMAR ODOM.....QUIT WHINING ABOUT THE REFS, WHEN PHIL JACKSON SAID SOMETHING ABOUT THE REFS ALL YOU JAZZ FANS GOT ON HERE AND TALKED YOUR $HIT.....SO NOW ITS YOUR TURN TO SHUT THE FUC# UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:wow yet another excuse. damn get a fuu ckin lifeee!!!!!!!!!

your team lost, except it. for ppl saying that the refs let us win is BS. damn u have to use excuses for everydamn thing
Reply:The Lakers did get a lot of help...from their bench, their improvement of free throw shooting, improvement on Offensive/Defensive Rebounds, Kobe drawing the double team to allow open teammates. All which were big improvements from game 4.

Yup...Lakers did get the help they needed from one another...hopefully it will continue to game 6, if not then I know it will in game 7 ;)
Reply:Is there a non-lakers fan out there not crying like baby?
Reply:No! they all have Kobe's Jewels in their mouth.

Resume Help. I did a lot of temporary jobs due to school semesters, do I need to list every single one?
Two pages are acceptable but only the first page will be reviewed. The reset might be viewed at interview time.

I haven't tried this but you might put down "student jobs", possibly clump the companies together and leave it at that. If you have some experience that might be useful to the your area of expertise, you can put that down.

Help with supposedly easy metal sphere and magnet problem?

A metal sphere hangs by a thread. When the north pole of a bar magnet is brought near, the sphere is strongly attracted to the magnet, as shown in the figure. Then the Magnet is reversed and its south pole is brought near the sphere. How does the sphere respond?

a. It is strongly repelled by the magnet.

b. It is weakly repelled by the magnet.

c. It is strongly attracted to the magnet.

d. It is weakly attracted to the magnet.

e. It doesn’t respond.

Help with supposedly easy metal sphere and magnet problem?
c. Its strongly attracted to the magnet. It dosnt matter what pole of the magnet you use. A non-magnetic sphere will always be attracted to it.
Reply:I know what the questioner wants you to say, but I can think of ways to build a sphere that would NOT react this way...

The real answer is "With the information givin there is no correct answer:...BUT here's what they want...

The sphere must be a feerous material (attracted to a magnet), so when the opposite pole is brought near, the object (sphere) will still be attracted to the magnet. They want you to say choive "c"...BUT they are not professional scientists...

I could build a sphere that is magnetic, by melting down iron and casting it into a shere and while it is "setting", i.e., "solidifying" by cooling, I put it into a STRONG electromagnetic field, thus making a magnet (or magneto as we called them 1,000,000 years ago when I was a student).

Now our freshly manufactued magnet has a north and south pole. If I bring the south pole of another magnet near, the two will attract, BUT if I bring the opposite pole near it, the opposite poles will repell.

This is not a great question, but let's face it, the people who write science books are not the best scientists. The best scientists are either teaching at a university or are researchers in industry at a top think tank.

I believe that they (whovere they are) who pick out text books for out kids should hire really top notch scientists to write them so that the science you learn is correct and exciting, not half baked and wrong much of the time. Shame on society!!

The following is a physics question i have no idea how to do, please help:?

The Write Brothers Flyer has a take-off weight of 750 lb and wing area of 47 m2. Determine the velocity of Flyer using the equation for wing loading.

The following is a physics question i have no idea how to do, please help:?
In aerodynamics, wing loading is the loaded weight of the aircraft divided by the area of the wing.[1] It is broadly reflective of the aircraft's lift-to-mass ratio, which affects its rate of climb, load-carrying ability, and turn performance.

In physics, velocity is defined as the rate of change of position.

Did you want vertical velocity (rate of climb)?
Reply:What is the equation?
Reply:it can not be done

you can not get any velocity from that info but the wing loading is 15.9574lbs/m2 as in 750divided by47

just divide the mass of the aircraft by the wing surface area for the wing loading
Reply:The limiting speeds of an airframe are determined by a number of factors you have not been given. You need to talk to your teacher and let him/her know the problem is not set up correctly.
Reply:Here is a web site that offers an equation you can solve, if you can estimate the coefficient of lift and the air density:

http://www.ajdesigner.com/phpwinglift/wi...

The coefficient of lift is a function of wing geometry and its orientation with respect to the direction of flight. Air density depends mostly on altitude and temperature. You can probably assume standard temperature and pressure at sea level, since the Wright brothers flew their prototype for the first time near the Atlantic ocean instead of at their home town, Dayton, Ohio. I have no idea what the coefficient of lift would be. You can probably get a fair estimate by assuming the Wright Flyer was moving at a maximum speed of no more than 30 mph during its brief intial flight, but then that's the answer you are looking for in the first place.

As for "the equation" you can't seem to find, that would probably be Bernoulli's Equation. However, it is a gross over-simplification to say that equation "explains" how a wing works. See also this site:

Can someone help me I have really bad menstrual cramps can someone suggest what can I do to aliviate the pain.

I've tried mydol, tylenol, aleve, advil everything you can think of and still nothing. I've even tried the heating pads so I don't know what to do. If you have the answer to my problem please tell me.

Can someone help me I have really bad menstrual cramps can someone suggest what can I do to aliviate the pain.
If you have a health/vitamin store near you that sells Nature's Sunshine (NS) products, NS makes something called Menstral Reg. Use as directed on the bottle, but for times like you are experiencing now, you can take like 4 of them and then in 1-2 hours take 2-4 until you feel relief.
Reply:Well if you go to the doctor, most likely they will just give you a stronger version of Naproxen Sodium (AKA Aleve)...so maybe you should try to get one some kind of birth control pill which would most likely make your period a lot better. You could also try a couple of techniques, like lay on your back and bring your knees up to you chest and then move then around in circles (it's like a uterine massage), or get on the floor on all fours (like a dog) which drops your uterus and causes it to relax. Your best bet is to go to the Doc though because you could have PMDD, or endometriosis if your cramps are that bad.

I just checked one of my books and you can take up to 550 mg of Aleve at once. I don't recommend taking any other pain relievers because most of them are pretty hard on your liver and stomach.
Reply:my grandma told me to take flax seed for menstrual cramps I use to keep some in my fridge and eat some when i hurt or before, they are small so you can swallow them if you don't want to chew.
Reply:Try peppermint or ginger tea. You can also buy the ginger root at your local food store in the produce section. Cut it up and boil it and drink it while it's hot.
Reply:I used to get really bad cramps and my doctor told me I could take up to four 200 mg. advils. That was the only thing that helped. Up your dosage.
Reply:If you've tried all that and none of it has worked I would try sex.
Reply:Birth Control
Reply:use ibuproven if that doesnt work see the doctor.
Reply:there is massage techniques that will relive your crams you can do yourself... check online..

Could someone help me for an essay on rationalism vs empiricism?

hey, I'm writing a basic persuasive essay for my grade 9 English class and decided to do it on Rationalism vs Empiricism arguing for the rationalists. My thesis is basically "All knowledge is obtained through thought and reason not through sensory and experience." I need three arguments that i could write about to prove that. If you could give me a few it would greatly be appreciated. thanks.

Could someone help me for an essay on rationalism vs empiricism?
I'm not going to give you too much, because you should do homework on your own. However, here are a few things to get you started:

1) Look up a book called "Meditations" by a philosopher named Rene Descartes. In particular, look at the Second Meditation. It's the one where he makes his famous "I think, therefore I am" statement. What Descartes is touching on there is the idea of "a priori" knowledge. (Essentially that means "knowledge gained using only the mind, or exactly what you're trying to argue for.)

2) Think about examples in which the senses prove fallible. You could print out some famous visual illusions from the internet, and use those in support of your paper. It will help plant doubts about the reliability of sensory information, and you can spend some time discussing that in your paper.

3) Realize that 90% of the world believes in God, even though there is NO empirical evidence to prove His existence (insofar as we can't actually SEE God. I understand that people have claimed to feel or see the manifestations of God, but most people don't even go that far.) There is a strong argument to be made here, simply on the basis that if 90% of the world believes in this way, then 90% of the world must be rationalist rather than empiricist. They would never believe in God, otherwise.

Hope that helps...
Reply:Each, the rationalists and the empiricists, are about 1/2 right and 1/2 wrong. Put the 2 "right" halves of their philosophies together and you'd have a pretty solid philosophy.

"[Philosophers came to be divided] into two camps: those who claimed that man obtains his knowledge of the world by deducing it exclusively from concepts, which come from inside his head and are not derived from the perception of physical facts (the Rationalists)—and those who claimed that man obtains his knowledge from experience, which was held to mean: by direct perception of immediate facts, with no recourse to concepts (the Empiricists)."

“For the New Intellectual,” For the New Intellectual, 30

"Throughout its history, philosophy has been torn by the conflict between the rationalists and the empiricists. The former stress the role of logic in man's acquisition of knowledge, while minimizing the role of experience; the latter claim that experience is the source of man's knowledge, while minimizing the role of logic. This split between logic and experiences is institutionalized in the theory of the analytic synthetic dichotomy."

Ayn Rand: "Introduction to Objectivist Epistemology"; p. 112

"...the “analytic-synthetic” dichotomy which, by a route of tortuous circumlocutions and equivocations, leads to the dogma that a “necessarily” true proposition cannot be factual, and a factual proposition cannot be “necessarily” true.

Introduction to Objectivist Epistemology, 102.

"Objectivism rejects the theory of the analytic-synthetic dichotomy as false—in principle, at root, and in every one of its variants %26amp;hellip.

An analytic proposition is defined as one which can be validated merely by an analysis of the meaning of its constituent concepts. The critical question is: What is included in “the meaning of a concept”? Does a concept mean the existents which it subsumes, including all their characteristics? Or does it mean only certain aspects of these existents, designating some of their characteristics but excluding others?

The latter viewpoint is fundamental to every version of the analytic-synthetic dichotomy. The advocates of this dichotomy divide the characteristics of the existents subsumed under a concept into two groups: those which are included in the meaning of the concept, and those—the great majority—which, they claim, are excluded from its meaning. The dichotomy among propositions follows directly. If a proposition links the “included” characteristics with the concept, it can be validated merely by an “analysis” of the concept; if it links the “excluded” characteristics with the concept, it represents an act of “synthesis.”

Leonard Peikoff, “The Analytic-Synthetic Dichotomy,”

Introduction to Objectivist Epistemology, 127.

Rationalism: A method, or very broadly, a theory of philosophy, in which the criterion of truth is not sensory but intellectual and deductive. Usually associated with an attempt to introduce mathematical methods into philosophy, as in Descartes, Leibniz and Spinoza.

Empiricism, Radical: The theory of knowledge which holds that ideas are reducible to sensations, as in Hume (1711-1776). The doctrine that experience is the final criterion of reality in knowledge. Synonomous with sensationalistic empiricism or sensationalism.

HELP!!, I live in South Florida, how do i get rid of palmetto bugs, big fat cockroaches?

I live in the Uk but my friend as bought a load of plug in pest repellents, she has them everywhere, inside the house and outside as she is petrified of anything that moves...since buying these she has been bug and pest free, they are suposed to let out a sound that only the bug can hear and not us, she cant hear anything and neither can I, I was thinking of buying some myself, maybe try your local hardware store or ebay.

HELP!!, I live in South Florida, how do i get rid of palmetto bugs, big fat cockroaches?
Shotgun !!

No - seriously - we live in Florida as well and every so often palmettos will venture in, especially during the rainy season.

They don't normally take up housekeeping and will eventually disappear.

We sprinkle borax (laundry detergent) over our carpets about once every two months. No bugs, no roaches, no ants, no fleas !!!

I just bought a mountain/road bicycle because I really want to lose weight, will it help?

I bought me a decent $275.00 bicycle and is a smooth ride. I roughly weigh 216-219 and 6'ft. I really dedicated myself to quit drinking beer, eating healthy, riding my bike, and working out (rigorously). Do you think I will see results in 20 days?

I just bought a mountain/road bicycle because I really want to lose weight, will it help?
Yes. You will most definitely see results in 20 days. Even less. But that is only if you keep at it, and don't overdo yourself.
Reply:depends on what/how much your eating and how much your exercising. If you exercise hard and dont eat/drink crap (pop, beer etc) you will see some type of result in 20 days.
Reply:If you stick to this plan, you will definitely see results in 20 days (probably by losing a few pounds). Stay hydrated so you know you're burning fat, rather than losing water. Make sure to change up your routine so your body doesn't get too used to it, and in 3 weeks you could lose 10-12lbs. -*D*
Reply:If you stick to your program of eating right and exercising regularly (5 or 6 days a week for at least 45 min per day), you'll definitely see some improvement in 20 days. It's not going to be miraculous but you could lose up to 10 lbs. and you'll be firmer and feel great! Good luck!
Reply:yes to both of your questions. I ride my bike to and from work every day and have noticed a change in my butt and legs. you'll probably lose fast in the beginning, then less as you go on. keep it up!
Reply:If you go nuts you will burn out or hurt yourself. No one can go from couch potato to Lance Armstrong in 20 days. Go gradually.
Reply:Congrats on your choice of a bike for conditioning! Running burns more cals but is hell on the joints. Swimming is all around best, but not easily available and pretty boring. Cycling is tops for cardio and mental stimulation, and a great

balance to lifting.

Yep, you'll see and feel results in 20 days. Not dramatic probably, but it'll be there. But, why not think in terms of months and years? I'm talkin' lifestyle change.

You already know about the benefits of exercise. Now, learn all you can about healthy nutrition. It'll serve you well the rest of your life.

Check the link on low carb eating. Be a good complement to the lifting you're doing.

Good luck.

Reply:Silly to forkout on a mountain bike a normal cycle gives you exercise, walking is good for you I dont rate work outs.

I say as you are serious eat what ever you enjoy but very slowly put the knife and fork down between each mouthful

Once you feel full STOP You will then only eat about half you did before get into the habit of eating a little every two n half hours this small one betwen meals maybe a yoghurt or a banana
Reply:To lose weight successfully, you should know the food that you eat can either make you THIN or FAT!!!

Yes,it is really important. You should know the truth:

1.Low Fat Foods DON'T always WORK...

2.Low Calorie Diets DON'T always WORK...

3.Low Carb Plans DON'T always WORK...

I followed the guide above and I lost 7 lbs in 11 days and then 30 lbs in less than a month.

In what ways does the lymphatic system help to contribute to homeostasis?

In reality, homeostasis depends on the body's ability to remove waste products.

The removal of cellular waste that is dissolved in water (called interstial fluid the fluid that diffuses out of the circulatory system and bathes the cells) is the function of the lymphatic system. Thus, homeostasis can be maintained. If the interstial fluid was not removed, the cells would pollute themselves and the organism would die due internal pollution and an upset in homeostasis.

In what ways does the lymphatic system help to contribute to homeostasis?
as the blood flows through the arteries, some of the plasma moves into the tissues and would bathe them. again some of this fluid would re enter the blood vessels. some fluid which cant enter into the blood vessel moves into the lymph capillaries and is transported to heart. if there is no lymphatic system the water or fluid remains in the tissue leading to oedema. this extra cellular fluid supplies oxygen to different tissues and removes wastes from them. thus it helps in homeostasis
Reply:homeostasis is the body's ability to use its internal systems toreach an equilibrium. the lymphatic system regulates the body's wastes in the bloodstream.
Reply:since blood passes through your capillaries the loss fluids add up to 4L a day, the lymphatic system helps by returning the loss fluid back to the blood

position as McCain is in now, as far as her age goes.

Too old for consideration for president.

Having said that, I will have to clarify myself in the fact that I

whole heartedly believe that the antics of Hillary and Barrack

have defeated the democratic nominee, whoever it turns out

to be, and they have made it not only possible, but highly

probably that John McCain will be the next president of the USA!
Reply:Well, I know a lot of Clinton supporters who will certainly jump on the bandwagon for McCain. Obama is the worst choice America could make for its President. Obamanites may as well accept the fact they got their nominee, but that is where it will stop. Former Clinton Supporter for McCain, that is me.
Reply:No, she will not, she has already said she will support Obama if he is the nominee. She loves the democratic party to much not to. I wish she would, the democratic party has not supported her, and if I were her I would not support them. Hell they don't even support their voters.
Reply:Clinton politics will be dead in a few more weeks. Hopefully CLinton, Peloski, Michael Moore and Rosie Odonnel wil buy a ranch in Canada some where. Ill pitch in to help get things rolling.

EDIT: Just for peoples info.....Hilary was a registerd Republican before she married Billy
Reply:Of course, if I cannot take and win this nomination, I will try to help John McCain, my good friend and colleague, win the presidency. Oh, but I'm not jealous of Barack.
Reply:I severly doubt it, she has been a hardcore democrat since she could vote. She's about the least likely to switch party lines.
Reply:Sounds Clintonesque enough, so, the answer is yep.
Reply:I hope so (my opinion)

Reply:Yes and so will her supporters. We see the danger of Obama in the white house.
Reply:Probably
Reply:Um, yeah what ever makes you feel better about losing. Thats it.
Reply:no way, she loves this country
Reply:Isn't that what she is doing now?
Reply:Why not she helps Bill or anyone that she can get what she wants from even Obama %26amp; all. Cut em down till you know your going to lose, she said about a month ago Obama was electable.... uterly ending it for herself even with his miscues.

truth is comming out daily.

yet most blacks will support him regardless they support OJ and Michael Jackson with millions in defense funds cause when your black your right.

Yet electability McCain is no spring chicken, but then again neither was George Washington, or Ronald Reagan, time will tell if elected I hope he picks a VP that loves black people too and most of all Jesus who is the only answer to the mess we are in.

I get tired of blacks with chips on their shoulders, angry and mad, My ancestors came to America in the early 1900's along with about 50% of America and since than thanks to the Democrats 15% Mexican intruders too. Why blame us when the minority that was here, half of them put their lives on the line to free you. My Jewish people didnt have one Egyptian fighting to free us!

my Jewish people were taken as slaves and all abused far more than most black slaves ever were, yet i dont have a chip against Egypt, we live better lives because of it, we dont justify living like pigs because of the Egyptians, and live in the blame game, When we blame another for our life, we will change and get worse.

Obama is also a citizen of a country in Africa so he has dual roles along with seeming connections with the Terrorists.

Jesse Jackson %26amp; Sharpie will continue to be the mouth pieces for most Blacks along with OJ and Michael Jackson, because the loudest voice gets their donations.

I go to an all black Church, with a few Hispanics there they love Jesus and dont go for the Political trype and hype.

Hillary Clinton disgraced America from Whitewater scandal to standing by Bill Clinton in Monicawater and the other 'waters' he paid off to drop the charges of sexual misconduct against him, as he openly lied to you, me, America and disgraced us to the whole world.

Yet=

but about Obama (Dear Jesus, save the USA),

but McCain does intend on leaving when the situation is under control so the terrorists arnt given the country and the oil,

and right now the terrorists are pouring in to fight there now, and a major leader of the terrorists just got caught in Iraq today!

Did Obama lose his mind, when he claims the Hamas terrorists dont want him over McCain?

Mr Obama is the one still financially supporting Mr Wright the biggot "who has a right to feel like he does" The one that says Obama is just playing politics saying he doesnt agree.

Obama supports him finacially weekly with his donations and attendence at the place Mr Wright is the senior and paid by that place, with his "God 'd' America the terrorists who deserved 9/11". Who awarded Kadafii the leader of Libya=who lets terrorists train in his country!

Accuses McCain

Obama accuses McCain of 'losing his bearings'

AP - 48 minutes ago

AP - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said Thursday that Republican John McCain was "losing his bearings" for repeatedly suggesting the Islamic terrorist group Hamas preferred Obama for president.

Is Mr Obama Muslim education who says pull out of Iraq (let the terrorists take over the oil and the country with money to fund all the terrorists Muslims including Hamas!

Is Obama out of his mind, thinking they dont prefere him?

It is time to stop attacking Mr McCain and Americans to stand up against terrorism, fight them there or 9/11s here it wasnt an accident you know

David in Jesus amazing grace John chapters 3 %26amp; 10 repent of sins and be born again, with Jesus as your best friend.

I followed the guide on:
