Aquarium fish lost scales - help keep him healthy?

In one of his freakouts where he tears through the tank, my black shark lost a row of five scales on his body. Anything I should put in the water to help keep him healthy while he heals? I dont want him to get an infection. Tank and filter were just cleaned.

Aquarium fish lost scales - help keep him healthy?
get some stress coat appropriate for your water conditions and you can get some saline solutions that willk clear bad bacteria in your tank water and it's very mild so it won't harm your fish at the same time.

you can get any of this at pretty much any pet store with fish tanks.

he should heal up on his own, you just want t omake him comfy with the stresscoat and make sure the water is clean so as to not spread bacteria or infections.

:)
Reply:i would go with the lady that answered you on top. she has the right answer.
Reply:I would, add salt and melafix to the water. Melafix is a wonderful medication which helps to treat, prevent infections, and soothe damaged fish, while it is healing. The salt will also help to keep the bacteria at bay.

make sure that your tank is clean, i would do a 20% water change each week with the siphon, to make sure that the environment is clean and controlled. Make sure to remove any carbon from your filter, this will remove the melafix.

unlike what the melafix container says, you really don't have to add it to the tank every day,..unless you do a water change! I usually add more every other day, and when i do water changes. It always works fine for me!

good luck!
