We brought two female dutch rabbits, one was very friendly in the pet shop and the other one was hiding. We got both so they wouldn't be lonely. The shy one has now turned evil and attacks us when we try to pick her up. The friendly one is still quite happy to be stroked and handled.
My female rabbit is really violent, she growls at us and boxes with her front claws when we go near her. Help!
just let her walk out of the cage and to your lap
Reply:Does sound like she's in heat and it is the time of their mating season. My two females are in a grumpy mood right now. I picked them both up for a cuddle today and they snorted like crazy at me and tried to rip the skin from my arms with their back feet. Wait few months and she will probably calm down again.
Reply:You has a vampire wabbit!
Reply:WOW! You will need a wubber blanket to be safe.
Reply:You should take her to the vet because maybe the if something wrong with her or you could find a trainer or ask your veterinarian to recommend one.
Reply:My neighbor
has 2 bunnies
1 was really nice
and the other
one was.......
evil! It got
evil because
they didn't pet it enough!
And it got jealous of the
other rabbit so it turned mean
it being shy is totally normal!
Just at least try to be nice to it
and pet it and feed it treats so it gets used
to u!
Best answer plz!
Reply:I would keep them apart for a few weeks, and see if the "evil" one has calmed down, if not, try talking to your vet.
Reply:What to consider is going to the vet! But personally I think she is in heat (wanting to have babies). So you should consider spaying or neutering it. If it still doesn't work sell it on kijiji.com where local classifieds are up there so you can sell, TOTALLY FREE! If that still doesn't work then give it back to the store in exchange for another.
Reply:stick it in the pot !
Reply:It sounds new to you. I would just talk to it, try to pet it, and give it time to get used to things. I'm sure she'll be fine once she figures out you're not going to harm her. I've ofter wondered what an animal thinks when you get it and it ends up in new living quarters.....probably traumatic for some. Good luck with them!!!
Reply:Time to spay her! Spaying will likely help a lot with her attitude. Plus, female rabbits have a reproductive cancer rate near 85%, so spaying is especially important to ensure a long healthy lifespan. Also, rabbits tend to be quite territorial in general. Never reach into their cage when they are in it, it is threatening to them. Let them hop out on their own, then do what you need to in their cage (cleaning, etc.). If they can't get out of the cage you have on their own, get a new one that they can hop out of (either ground level with a side door or elevated with a study, wide ramp), it will go a long way towards making them feel secure if you aren't invading their space all the time. Don't force the less friendly rabbit to interact with you. Most rabbits aren't cuddly! Your friendly rabbit is quite unusual. They generally like to stay on the ground, being picked up is frightening. Sit on the floor and let her explore, they are curious and she will eventually approach you and check you out, don't grab at her or reach suddenly in her direction, just let her sniff you and climb on you, offer treats, and when she is more comfortable, you can gently stroke her. Good luck!
Reply:hold it up by its two back legs and with your other hand hit it on the back of the head with a chopping motion and then eat it or dinner.
Reply:the growl is a sound of play and means that the rabbit is having fun. they don't talk like people. limit handling of rabbits as they have fragile spines which can fracture easily. rabbits are nocturnal and don't normally play during the day.
